The following are the programs available for school visit presentations.
School and Library Visits
I prefer to schedule my visits for the fall as we are usually busy with foaling and other horse related business in the spring. However, this year our foaling schedule is lighter and earlier than usual, so some dates are available. I still have dates open in September, October and November. Please contact my assistant, Kim, for specific availability.

Programs
1. It Began With A Kiss: The evolution of a series – The Frog Princess
How it began, how it evolved and where it’s headed. Topics include where the idea originated, writing The Frog Princess, getting published, (including the editing process), Disney’s offer, writing sequels, foreign editions, why I wrote a prequel after four books, books not related to the series, and what’s coming next. I will also describe how a book in a series differs from a stand-alone and what one can and can’t expect once one’s been published. And finally, the answer to the question - will this series ever end?
2. There’s A Goblin In My Study! Creating believable fantasy creatures and characters.
Using examples from the tales of the Frog Princess as well as my contemporary fantasy, Wings, I will explain how to make any character believable, create fantasy characters, create fantasy creatures - including researching the characters from mythology and creating one’s own. I will also introduce the Greater Greensward Gazette and have a character creating exercise.
3. Tips For Young Writers – ‘Do’s’, ‘Don’ts’ and ‘Things I Wish I’d Known Sooner’ to help young writers get started with their own fantasy stories.
Do’s – How to create interesting characters and settings, plot a story people will want to read, write interesting dialogue and include gripping first and last sentences.
Don’ts - Avoid using clichés, slowing the action of your story, getting caught up in things that don’t matter, over-using certain words
Things I wish I’d Known Sooner – Research tips, how to use an outline, who to send it to if you want to get published, preparing a manuscript for submission, creating a writing group.
